Evaluation of Liquid Potassium Fertilizer on Yield and Yield Components of Potato Under Irrigation on Nitisols in Central Highlands of Ethiopia

Nutrient deficiency is a major constraint for potato ( S olanum t u berosum L.) production in Ethiopia. Potato response to potassium fertilizer declined with widespread deficiencies of nutrients other than N and P, farmers are discouraged apply such recommendations. This study was, therefore, conducted two years (2018-2019) on nitisols under irrigation evaluate the liquid (K) rates. The treatments were five (Negative control, recommended NPS, NPS + 3liter K /ha, 5 liter K/ha, 7liter K/ha). experiment was arranged randomized complete block design replicated four times farmers’ fields. Results revealed that yield responded differently applied Applications 100% NP 5liter/ha had significant (p<0.05) effect marketable tuber total potato. In general application (100% K) indicates positive dray matter specific gravity. conclusion, based findings 5L/ha economically optimum production.
